Note: To use a GPS or mapping software for Harvard Yard, use the address 2 Kirkland St, Cambridge, MA 02138.

Driving

From the East or West: take I90, the Massachusetts Turnpike

From the Massachusetts Turnpike (Mass Pike – Rt. 90, East and Westbound): Take Exit 18 (Allston—or Brighton/Cambridge). Go through toll and bear right toward Cambridge, then get into far left lane at set of traffic lights. At 2nd traffic light (before the bridge across from the Doubletree Guest Suite Hotel) turn left onto Storrow Drive; Soldiers Field Road; exit at Harvard Square. Turn right to cross the bridge. You will be on JFK Street headed into Harvard Square.

From The South (I-93 North): Heading north on Route 93, exit onto the Mass Pike westbound. See above.

From Logan Airport: As you leave the airport, follow signs to Rt. 90, Mass. Turnpike West. See above.

From The North (I-93 South): Heading south on Route 93 exit onto Storrow Drive west. Take Harvard Square/Cambridge exit, turn right and proceed over bridge and across Memorial Drive onto JFK Street and into Harvard Square.

Parking

On-street parking is scarce in Cambridge, but there are several public parking lots and garages. Click here for a map with parking locations. Permitted parking is available at the Harvard garages; see Parking Services for more information. Note: The MBTA provides inexpensive parking at its Alewife Station. The Harvard Square stop is 4 stops from Alewife.

Public Transportation

The “T” (short for the MBTA, Boston’s subway network) is a very good way to get to GSAS from most places in the Greater Boston area. The Harvard Square stop on the Red Line is across the street from Richard A. and Susan F. Smith Campus Center. “T” access to and from Logan Airport is reliable and inexpensive – The airport’s Silver Line meets the Red Line at South Station.
